BioMEMS Research Associate
Public bio-nanotechnology company seeks a BioMEMS Research Associate in the development of novel BioMEMS devices with a background in molecular biology and protein chemistry. Successful candidate must be a creative thinker with excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of invention and reduction to practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop concept, design and fabricate innovative microfabricated devices.
- Evaluate prototype devices for performance and modify as needed to improve performance and determine final specifications.
- Investigate, create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement, regularly exercising technical discretion in design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project.
- Particpate in authoring and contributing materials to grants, patents, reports and papers for publication, presentations and for use with research activities.
Qualifications:
- PhD degree in an engineering field (e.g. electronics, mechanics, chemistry, material science or related field) or biosciences with MEMS experience.
- Research experience using micro and nanofabrication techniques. Must have experience in the development of microcantilever or other types of sensors, and microfluidic and/or lab on a chip devices. Experience with optics and electronics highly desirable.
- Excellent skills in the use of common microfabrication, micromachining and microanalysis instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, LinkCAD, SolidWorks and/or other design software.
- Must be proficient in standard laboratory methods including protein chemistry and optical/ fluorescence microscopy.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to write proposals, publication quality materials, reports and correspondences.
