MEMS Development Engineer
Public bionanotechnology company seeks an experienced micro/nanofabrication Research Scientist to participate in the development of new surface patterning and surface modification technology. Successful candidate must be a creative thinker with excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of invention and reduction to practice.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop concept, design and fabricate innovative micro and nanofabricated tools & devices.
- Evaluate prototype tools & devices for performance and modify as needed to improve performance and determine final specifications.
Requirements:
- PhD degree (MS considered with compensatory experience) in an engineering field (e.g., electronics, mechanices, chemistry, material science or related field).
- A minimum of 5 years of research experience using micro and nanofabrication techniques. Must have experience in the development of microcantilever or other types of sensors, and microfluidic and/or lab on a chip devices. Experience with optics and electronics highly desirable.
- Excellent skills in the use of common microfabrication, micromachining and microanalysis instrumentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and problem solving skills. Ability to write proposals, publication quality materials, reports and correspondences. Ability to speak clearly and effectively.
- Deep working knowledge of AutoCAD, LinkCAD, SolidWorks and/or other design software.
Due to the need for foundry access, this position may be located in Ames, IA or any of the following cities: Ithaca, NY; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; University Park, PA; Minneapolis, MN; Austin TX; San Fransisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Seatlle, WA.
